A district head, Mai Kanuribe of Lagos, Alhaji Mustapha Muhammadu, and other two persons have been confirmed dead in a ghastly road accident involving their vehicle which accompanied the convoy of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State.
The accident, it was learnt took place in the wee hours of Tuesday while the governor was heading to Maiduguri, after he had flagged up the state’s APC membership revalidation exercise in his Mata Ward of Ajari Polling Unit in Mafa LGA of the State.
It was gathered that the vehicle conveying the district head, somersaulted after a tyre deflated, leading to his death and two other passengers.
However, two other injured victims were rushed to the hospital while corpses of the deceased persons have been taken to Maiduguri for an Islamic burial rite.
This incident comes four months after Zulum’s convoy was attacked by Boko Haram insurgents twice in one week.
Our Correspondent gathered that the Governor was accompanied by his Deputy, Alh Umar Usman Kadafur, Senator Kashim Shettima of Borno Central, APC State Party Chairman, Hon. Alh Ali Bukar Dalori, Chief of Staff, Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Members of National and state Assembly, members of the state Executive Council, some Council Chairmen, SSA, SA, Top party members among others.
