A man, identified as Naziru Mohammed, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly robbing stranded passengers with a cutlass.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the arrest in a Tweet on Thursday, said the incident occured at the Agege Area of the state.
SP Hundeyin said that the suspect and others still at large attacked and robbed the passengers when the vehicle they boarded developed a fault.
“Mohammed and his gang attacked and robbed stranded passengers after their vehicle broke down,” he said.
Hundeyin said that when the officers of Isokoko Police Station got information on the alleged robbery, they stormed the location.
“Men of Isokoko Division got wind of it and swiftly arrived at the scene.
“Mohammed was arrested while efforts are on to apprehend the others who fled,” he said.
The spokesperson said that the cutlass allegedly used for the crime was recovered.
