The police in Nasarawa State has detained an official of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) for allegedly chaining and locking up his son for twenty four hours without food nor water.
Before his arrest, the FRSC official, identified as Mr Asoko Ufiah, was also beaten to stupor by some community member for the maltreatment meted on his 10 year old son.
According to eyewitness’s account, the incident took place Saturday night at Angwan Doka Hilltop Community along Bill Cliton college, New Nyanya, in Karu LGA of Nasarawa state.
The neighbours explained that Mr Asoko Ufiah said his son, Emmanuel allegedly stole wares in his wife’s shop and left the house.
The immediate neighbours and his landlord had confirmed the incident and accused his new wife for charming the man.
Concerned women from the neighborhood who raised the alarm that led to the rescue operations of the little boy, stated that the incident has been happening for a long time.
The neighbours disclosed that Mr Ufiah’s first wife, who is the mother of the chained child is late and that his present spouse could have masterminded the maltreatment of the deceased wife’s three children.
The neighbours who were disturbed by the reoccurring incident having not satisfied with the arrest of the father, kept vigil for the return of the step mother.
On sighting her, they moblized and gave her a beating of her life and was striped naked only to be rescued by an Okada rider, who took her to the police station to meet her husband.
At the time of writing this report, both of them were still at the police station.
