The 7 Division Chapter of The Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA), has laid a multi million naira foundation for the construction of a befitting divisional secretariat and wellness center in Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri.
The building when completed would accommodate principal offices, ultra modern gymnasium and conference Hall for the barrack community.
While laying the foundation for the secretariat on Friday, the Theater Commander, Major General Farouq Yahaya said: “Just recently, the National President of NAOWA, Mrs Fatimah Ibrahim Attahiru, the Wife of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) launched the laying of the foundation of NAOWA Wellness Center in Abuja and now, we are here witnessing the Divisional ground breaking and fundation laying ceremony for the 7 Division Chapter of NAOWA which is commendable”.
“I strongly believe that this project is a well thought project which will not only bring office accomodations to the NAOWA but will also serve as event centre and wellness centre, as well as skill acquisition centre”, Yahaya said
He assured the 7 Division NAOWA of the support of the theater command towards the successful completion of the project within the stipulated period of 18 weeks while urging all the officers, soldiers and well meaning Nigerians to donate generously to the project.
Earlier, in her welcome address, the 7 Division President of the NAOWA, Hajiya Maryam A.A Eyitayo said: “NOAWA is a non profit and Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) with the sole aim of assisting the poor and uplifting the welfare of barrack community across the country”.
She also commended the NAOWA National President, Mrs Fatima Attahiru, The Theater Commander and the GOC for their support, while assuring that the project would be completed within the stipulated period and urged all hands to be on deck to ensure the completion of the project for the benefit of all.
