The Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), 7 Division, Nigerian Army Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri, marked the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2024 with a range of community-focused activities.
The events included a free medical outreach at Shuwari Community, Baga Road, Maiduguri, and the distribution of food items to orphanage homes at Fatima Orphanage and Widows Educational Foundation Songhai, Maiduguri, as well as the Joint Investigation Center (JIC), Giwa Barrack, Maiduguri.
The Chairperson of NAOWA, 7 Division, Hajiya Aishat AGL Haruna, said the association organized these initiatives to support and assist the community in improving their health, hygiene, and environment.
Hajiya Aishat emphasized that the association’s goals align with the Nigerian Army’s vision of promoting welfare and well-being among soldiers and their families, as well as the surrounding community.
“We feel the medical outreach will go a long way in improving people’s health and also serve as a relief in this economic hardship . Reminding them on the importance of good health and hygiene as well.as environmental sanitation.
“Providing food relief to the orphans and widows is also very important and as mothers and women, we value and cherish supporting and taking care of our children,” Aishat said.
She further explained that the NAOWA 3-day activities started on Friday with Jummaat Prayers at Maimalari Cantonment Central Mosque while Inter- Denominational Church Service was held at Saint Bartholomew Protestant Church Maimalari Cantonment.
The Chairperson promised additional support for the orphanage homes including their education and health while encouraging the proprietors and children to stand firm and build their future.
The Proprietress of the Fatima Orphanage Foundation, Fatima Babagana and Headmaster , Dennis Yusuf Wuga of the foundation appreciated the gesture and prayed God to reward NAOWA and protect its leaders.
Earlier, the 7 Division Hospital Commandant , Colonel N. L. Musa conducted the Chairperson round the Medical Outreach Stands and there was environmental sanitation and hygiene lecture.
