The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Wednesday announced that it has registered 29 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total number of infections in the country to 165,807 confirmed cases.
As at Tuesday, 18 May, 2021, the public health agency recorded no COVID-19-related deaths, leaving the total fatalities in Nigeria to 2,067 deaths.
The NCDC made this know in an update via its official Twitter handle @NCDCgov, noting that the 29 new cases were reported from 4 states, including: – Lagos (18) and Rivers (11).
It added that with the new cases, the total number of confirmed infections since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country had risen to 165,807 confirmed cases, out of which 156,420 Covid-19 patients have been discharged.
The NCDC further noted that there were now 7,195 active cases across the country in the last 24 hours and it has so far carried out sample test on 1,977,479 persons since the outbreak of the pandemic, last year.
It also said that a multi-sector national Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, is coordinating response activities Nationwide.
