The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) through its Women Employment Branch (WEB) on Monday flagged off a 5 day training workshop forDirector General of NDE, Malam Nuhu Fipko, National Directorate of Employment (NDE), sokoto State, . 130 women in Sokoto on diverse skills.
According to the State Coordinator of NDE, Mrs Eunice Danmallam, the 130 participants are segmented into three categories depending on individuals’ preferences.
Mrs Eunice, who spoke on behalf of the Director General of NDE, Malam Nuhu Fipko, said 50 of the participating women will be trained on make ups, gele and events decoration, while another 50 persons would be trained on tye and dye with the remaining 30 receiving training on natural organic products, stone, beads and perfumery.
Speaking on the importance of the training, Mrs. Eunice said women are cardinal pillars of every home, hence, giving them sound empowerment will help in ensuring stable community at the long run.
She noted that the facilitators for the training would focus on theory on the first day to be followed by practicals in subsequent days depending on the skills the participants choose to learn
While appealing to all participants to devote themselves to whatever they are going to be taught, Mrs Eunice assured that some form of empowerment fund will be provided for participants.
Some of the participants who spoke with our correspondent admitted that the NDE is living up to its expectation as one of the federal government agencies that is solely committed to building employers of labour rather than making people labourers.
Speaking on behalf of the 130 participants, both Malama Aisha Kanoma and Shaafatu Usman said it’s a one time opportunity for all of them, which would surely change their lives for better in due course.
They also appealed to the federal and state government to expedite action on finding a lasting solution to the rave of insecurity bedeviling the north and country at large.
