The North East Development Commission (NEDC) is to liaise with the Borno State Government on how and what to assist the over 42 victims of Gwoza twin bomb explosion that claimed the lives of about 30 people and injured over 40 others including children and females who have been receiving treatments at various medical centers in both Gwoza town and Maiduguri.
The Managing Director/CEO, NEDC, Ambassador Goni Mohammed Alkali stated this during his sympathy visit to the victims of the Gwoza bomb blast at the Maiduguri State Specialist Hospital.
The NEDC MD was received and conduct around the emergency ward beds of the victims still responding to treatments, by the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Baba Shehu Mohammed .
He also assured that NEDC is already working modalities and strategies on areas of support and assistance to the victims and their families as part of the commissions mandatory services to people and victims of conflict.
The MD/CEO expressed deep sympathy over the pathetic situation and reaffirmed the commissions willingness and determination to assist the victims where necessary in collaboration with the state government.
Earlier the CMD of the hospital appreciated NEDC for the visit and sympathy while disclosing that about 20 victims have so far been discharged including those with minor injuries earlier treated and discharged.
He assured continuous treatment of the victims for their quick recovery while appreciating the state government, VP Kashim Shettima, National Assembly members. NEDC and others for their concern and support.
