Nigeria on Thursday recorded 197 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total number of confirms cases in the country to 55,829.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), made this known via its official twitter handle @NCDCgov.
According to the health agency, the 197 new cases were recorded from 12 states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
Giving a breakdown of the 197 new infections, the NCDC said the Plateau state had the highest with 83 cases, followed by Lagos-48, Kaduna-17, FCT-16, and Ogun-11.
The remaining cases came from Katsina-7, Imo-4, Edo-3, Nasarawa-3, Rivers-2, Bayelsa-1, Oyo-1, and Osun-1.
The NCDC further disclosed that out of the 55,829 confirmed cases of infections in Nigeria, 43,810 cases had been successfully treated and discharged, while 1,075 deaths had been recorded since the outbreak of the COVID-19 in the country.
