Retired Deputy Controller of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Ime Unaowo Nta, has lauded President, Mohammadu Buhari for sustaining the war against corruption in the country.
Nta stressed that President Buhari has maintained the tempo of anti-graft war calling on all well meaning Nigerians to join hands with the president for the graft war to make the country a better place for generations yet unborn.
The retired deputy director made this call Monday in Calabar during a ceremony where he was named among the 2019/2020 17 developmental thinkers by the Institute of Human and Natural Resources.
Nta said corruption is a bane against the development of Nigeria adding that it is only men of proven integrity who can have the will power to curb vices.
The retired deputy director who spoke on the topic “Corruption in Nigeria’s Public Service: Who is to blame; emphasized that for the war against corruption to be won, all hands must be on deck.
“Mr. President needs our joint cooperation to win the war against corruption, insecurity and other vices so we could revamp our economy which was heading towards recession”. He said.
Nta who was also the former Special Assistant to the Minister of Interior (Immigration Matters) also urged Nigerians to emulate the President, Mohammadu Buhari whom despite distractions from critics, has not lost focus on his fight against corruption.
The onetime Special Assistant to Minister of Aviation(Security matters) charged the federal Government to put a machinery in place that will give protection to civil servants who try to give information to the anti-graft agency from victimization from Senior officers.
Earlier, the Zonal Coordinator of the Institute, South South Zone, Dr. Osondu Hills urged the awardees who he said have now become fellows of the institute to see themselves as worthy ambassadors of the institute and to keep the flag flying in the fight against corruption and other vices in society
