Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama, announced on Sunday he was heading for isolation in a health facility he tested positive for coronavirus.
Onyeama, who made this know in a tweet via his twitter handle @GeoffreyOnyeama, said “Did my fourth COVID-19 test yesterday at the first sign of a throat irritation and unfortunately this time it came back positive. That is life! Win some, lose some.
“Heading for isolation in a health facility and praying for the best. #StayHomeSaveLives #COVID19 #PTFCOVID19.”
Onyeama becomes the first Minister in President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet to be infected with the dreaded virus since it was first reported in Nigeria in February 2020.
So far, six Nigerian governors have tested positive for COVID-1 but have all been treated and discharged, including Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed; Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El- Rufai and; Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.
The rest are Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi; his Ondo State counterpart, Rotimi Akeredolu and Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state.
