The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has inaugurated a Servicom Centre at its Plateau command Headquaters in Jos.
Speaking at the event on Friday, Mr Isah Idris, the Comptroller-General of the Service, said that Plateau command became first to launch its centre in the country.
Idris noted that servicom initiative was conceived by NIS to promote quality, efficient and adequate service delivery, aimed at ensuring customers’ satisfaction.
He explained that the initiative would ensure proper management of the satisfaction gap between NIS and its customers in the area of service delivery.
”In general, servicom is a unit that represents the interest of the presidency on ease of doing business and NIS has performed and is still performing in that regard.
”Government is about the people and their concerns, and this have also become our outmost concern in NIS.
”This unit will ensure that the public rendered quality, prompt, adequate and satisfactory service delivery, particularly to Nigerians who come to seek of our services.
”Let me assure our stakeholders that NIS is more committed now to produce the results that meet the needs of our present day society,” he said.
The comptroller further assured Nigerians of its readiness to serve all stakeholders within the time frame and professional capabilities.
Idris, who thanked Plateau government for the untiring support to NIS, called on members of the public to support the service in its bid to secure the nation.
Idris, however, warned personnel of the service against sharp practices, insisting that anyone caught would not be spared.
Mr Christopher Nomhwange, NIS Controller in Plateau, said the unit was constructed and furnished with the support of stakeholders and friends of the command.
He said that the servicom unit, introduced out of the desire to provide quality service and be in touch with the public, would help in checkmating the activities of other units within the command.
”This structure for the servicom unit will also house the anti corruption and transparency unit of the command.
”This unit will also ensure good leadership and set out the entitlements of the citizens, because it was solely introduced to improve on the difficulties faced by applicants that come to seek our services,” he said.
Inaugurating the centre, Gov. Simon Lalong, represented by his Deputy, Prof. Sonni Tyoden, commended NIS for the initiative and the Plateau command for always taking the lead and making the state proud.
He assured the comptroller of government’s readiness to support and collaborate with the service to enable it to provide quality service to people.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the governor, supported by the comtroller and other dignitaries, laid the foundation for the construction of a modern clinic at the NIS state command Headquater.(NAN)
