There was pandemonium on Wednesday at the Ondo State-owned Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, in Owo, Ondo State, as a yet to be identified student of the polytechnic was macheted to death.
The Public Relations Officer of the institution, Samuel Ojo, who confirmed the incident to Channels Television in a telephone chat, said the cause of the death of the student is, however, yet to be known.
The incident also coincides with the Students Union Government election of the polytechnic.
But the PRO dismissed rumours that the killing might be connected with the SUG election, saying there was no evidence for that and that the killing happened outside the polytechnic campus.
At the time of filing this report the Spokesperson of Ondo State Police Command, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro, said was yet to be briefed about the incident.
