Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have distanced themselves from the bill seeking to move the issue of minimum wage from the exclusive list to the concurrent list.
Addressing newsmen after the PDP Governors’ Forum meeting in Abuja, the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal said the sponsor of the controversial bill must have done so out of his own free will.
The Sokoto State Governor advised the Nigeria Labour Congress not to see the PDP governors as backing the move.
On insecurity in the country, Governor Tambuwal pledged support for any move by the federal government that would restore peace in Zamfara and other troubled areas.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the PDP National Reconciliation Committee, Senator Bukola Saraki has expressed satisfaction with the response from the governors on the platform of the party after a meeting with them.
Senator Saraki gave assurance that no PDP governor was contemplating defecting from the party.
