The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested 24 youths for alleged thuggery and attack on innocent citizens in the state.
The police spokesman, SP Ahmed Wakil, said in a statement on Sunday, that the seven of them were arrested in Azare, Katagum Local Government Area headquarters following a clash between two rival thug groups popularly called “Sara Suka”.
He said: “The Attention of Bauchi State Police Command has been drawn to an inter-group clash between thugs and thuggery groups (Sara-suka) in Azare.
“Following multiple complaints against the activities of Sara-suka who terrorized Azare residents, On the 2nd to 3rd April 2023 the Sara-suka group fell-out in an enormous attack on innocent citizens and looting of some shops without any course.
“On receiving the intel, a team of operatives led by DPO Azare swiftly swung into action and raided the clash point and arrested seven suspects in connection with the crime.”
The PPRO said that the suspects arrested are: Haruna Wada AKA Dantalaka, (21); Abdullahi Makaho, (20); Adamu Ahmed Makaho, (22); Ibrahim Alhaji Yayaji, male (25); Dauda Wada, (25) all males and residents of Shatima Mustapha Quarters, Azare.
Others, according to him are: Abdullahi Usman AKA (Chilli) (25) and Mohammed Sani Stamina (21) all males of Garin Arap, Azare.
According to him, all the aforementioned suspects arrested would be charged to court to face the full wrath of the law while an effort is in progress to arrest their cohort at large.
Similarly, the Police Spokesman said that 17 thugs were arrested for criminal conspiracy and theft in Bauchi metropolis.
“Sequel to the directives of the Commissioner of Police against the backdrop of the security situation in the State, the Command being committed to ensuring the security of lives and property of citizens/residents within the State have intensified 24/7 round the clock patrols, guard duty and raids of identified black spots to effectively checkmate crime and criminality in the state.
“Consequently, the Command conducted a raid led by the Commander, Rapid Response Squad on some black spots and arrested 17 thugs popularly known as Sara Suka, including their ring leaders.”
According to him, those arrested are: Usman Isah AKA Aban Lare, (22) of Tamil Nadu Bauchi Metro (Ring Leader); Zakari Mohammed AKA Bodari of Bakin kura/Malam Goje; Ahmed Hussaini AKA Abbati (21) of Jahun Street, Bauchi; Ibrahim Musa AKA Garla (22) of Jahun Street; Nuraini Usman (27) of Klofaran Bauchi; Ziya’ul Hassan AKA Sarki (25) of Shekal Bauchi.
Others are: Hassan Ladan AKA Ashobe of Wuntin Dada, Bauchi; Hussaini Ladan (24) of Wuntin Dada, Bauchi; Adamu Mohammed AKA Yobe (30) of Wuntin Dada, Bauchi; Ibrahim Rabiu AKA Bros (24) of Dawaki Ward, Bauchi; Abubakar Moh’d AKA Shaho (18) of Dawaki Ward, Bauchi and Nasiru Ali AKA Sulu (24) of Dawaki Ward, Bauchi.
The remaining are: Abdullahi Ahmad AKA Alhaji (20) of Nasarawa, Bauchi; Jilabibi Moh’d (20) of Baba Sidi, Bauchi; Rufa’i Moh’d (24) of Jahun, Bauchi; Abdulrahman Adamu (18) of Jahun, Bauchi and Aliyu Umar Ajiya (24) of Yakubu Wanna Bauchi.
He said the exhibits recovered from them are five cutlasses, four knives and two iron mace adding that they would be charged to court.
Wakil further said that in another development, seven suspects were arrested for their involvement in a gang fight between Birshin Fulani youths and those of Ungwan Kanawa, within the Bauchi Metropolis.
He said those arrested are: Nazeef Hassan (17), Yakubu Saidu (19), Muazu Ali (18), Usama Musa (19), all males of Birshin Fulani; while the remaining suspects are: Saddam Murtala (19) Abubakar Aliyu (18), Murtala Haladu (20), Ibrahim Haruna (17), Shamsudeen Haruna (18).
