A lecturer in the Department of Business Management at the Covenant University, Ota, Dr. Stephen Ukenna has been arrested by men of Ogun State police command for allegedly having carnal knowledge of a 17-year-old student of the institution.
The 41-year-old lecturer was arrested after the parents of the victim reported the incident at Ota area command that their daughter was sexually abused by the suspect.
The parents told the policemen that the suspect had lured the victim to his office claiming that he wanted to plan a surprise birthday party for her close friend.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the arrest of the suspect in a statement in Abeokuta.
Mr Oyeyemi said the suspect admitted having carnal knowledge of the victim but was unable to give any reason for his action.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
