Operatives from Zone 6 Police Headquarters in Cross River State have arrested a female syndicate, identified as Norabel Ikaka Lebo, for allegedly defaming Transcorp Hotel in Calabar.
Parading the suspect before newsman on Friday, the zonal police spokesman, DSP Nelson Okpabi said the feat was achieved through intelligence gathering by officers and men of the zone.
DSP Okpabi said: “The zone has within the past two months recorded tremendous achievements including the arrest of a female suspect who defamed Transcorp Hotel Calabar on a video that went viral on the 18th October, 2021”
According to him, the operatives of the Zonal Intelligence Bureau following credible intelligence arrested One Norabel Ikaka Lebo ‘f’ a native of Adadama in Abi Local Government Area, Cross River State in connection with the defamatory video that went viral on Tik Tok and other social media platforms”.
“On interrogation, Norabel claimed she was scammed to release the mendacious video by a man in Canada who told her that two Canadians who lodged in Transcope Hotel Calabar between 11th and 12th August, 2021 and were robbed of all the valuables”. He said.
DSP Okpabi, further, said the zone has recorded zero cases of terrorism, herdsmen/farmer clashes, pipeline vandalism, disasters, political crises, religious crises, inter agency disputes amongst other vices within the period under review.
“All thanks to the good people of Akwa Ibom and Cross River States and their Excellences the Governors of Akwa Ibom and Cross River states and sister security agencies for the support, cooperation and synergy that brought about relative peace in the Zone”
“The people of the two states are once again assured of the safety of lives and property while soliciting their continuous co-operation to enable the police fight crime to a standstill”, the police spokesman said.
