The Anambra State Police Command said it have rescued four pregnant young girls from a baby factory in Nnewi Area of the State.
In statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Haruna Muhammed, reveals that the four young girls who hail from Ebonyi state were all residing at a brothel in Nnewi.
The arrest followed an incident that happened on the eleventh of March 2021 when two men attempted to kidnap a four-year-old child returning from school.
One of the suspects was confirmed dead after an angry mob beat them to a stupor while the other confessed that one Gladys Nworie Ikegwhonu who operates a baby factory sent them.
The statement notes that the lady who is now at large was keeping the young girls and getting them pregnant after which she sells the children to waiting customers.
The Pregnant young girls include a 20-year-old Chisom Okoye, from Mgbaneze Isu, Onicha LGA, 18-year-old Chinecherem Clement of Agbaebo Isu of Onicha LGA, 21-years-old Blessing Ogbonna from Nkwagu Isu of Onicha LGA and 21-years-old, Blessing Njoku of Mgbaneze Isu of Onicha LGA all from Ebonyi state.
Mr Haruuna Muhammed says the command is intensifying efforts to arrest the principal suspect, Gladys Nworie Ikegwuonu of Ohaozora, Ebonyi State, in order to bring her and other accomplices to Justice.
