The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum (Midstream), Rep. Odianosen Okojie (APC-Edo), has urged the new management of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to prioritise national interest in the discharge of its responsibilities.
In a statement on Saturday, Okojie commended the outgone management, led by Mr Mele Kyari for their contributions to the development of the oil sector.
He called on the new team, led by the Group Managing Director, Mr Bayo Ojulari, to break new frontiers in the nation’s oil and gas industry.
“On behalf of the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Midstream), I congratulate the new management team of the NNPCL, led by Mr Bayo Ojulari.
“Your assignment is a call to the service of your fatherland and I urge you to be guided by national interest in the discharge of this duty.
“With your wealth of experience garnered over the years and spanning critical segments of the industry value chain, I have no doubt whatsoever that the oil and gas sector is in good hands.
“It is our expectation that you will walk your talk by improving on crude oil production to an enviable height, given the revenue shortage experienced by successive governments over the years,” he said.
According to him, oil remains the cornerstone of Nigeria’s economy, stresding that no effort should be spared in making the industry operate at an optimal capacity.
The lawmaker wished the new team success, as it settled down to business.
He expressed appreciation to Kyari and his team for their achievements, saying that they could not be ignored.
Okojie maintained that the role of the outgone team in the enactment of Petroleum Industry Act, resuscitation of Port Harcourt Refinery and security of the nation’s oil and gas assets were feats that could not be forgotten in a hurry.
He wished the outgone members of the management team the very best in their future endeavours. (NAN)
