Hajia Rabiat Mopelola-AbdulRahman, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Communications, has commended Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara for transforming the state-owned newspaper, The Herald, into an e-publication.
Mopelola-AbdulRahman made the commendation in Ilorin on Friday when she visited the newspaper office in continuation of her monitoring tour to parastatal agencies under the ministry.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the permanent secretary, while addressing the management and staff, said the introduction of e-production had popularised newspapers globally.
She advised workers of the newspaper to reciprocate government gesture by rededication to duty.
Mopelola-AbdulRahman however warned the members of staff against truancy, indolence, lateness to work and other negative tendencies capable of retarding the growth and development of the state.
Mr Yomi Areboye, the General Manager of the newspapers, decried the neglect of the media house in terms of infrastructure and inadequate funding, but thanked the present administration in the state for its resolve to resuscitate the newspaper.
He expressed gratitude to the state government for the introduction of e-production and replacement of obsolete equipment.
NAN reports that other agencies visited by the permanent secretary included the Kwara Television Authority and Kwara Signage and Advertisement Agency. (NAN)
