The proscribed National Taskforce on Importation of Illegal Arms, Ammunition, Light Weapons and Chemicals (NATFORCE) has appealed to the office of the National Security Adviser to reconsider its decision on the proscription of the force.
The National Commander Special Squad of NATFORCE, Mr Aliyu Aminu-Wayas made the appeal while speaking with newsmen in Abuja.
Mr Aminu-Wayas who noted that the group had been working with various security agencies to apprehend bandits, kidnappers and other criminals, maintained that it would never engage in any illegal activities.
While acknowledging the fact that some individuals were using the name of the force for fraudulent activities, Mr Aminu-Wayas called for investigation and prosecution of those involved in such.
The National Commander also appealed to the National Assembly to consider its bill to give legal backing to the force.
Mr Aminu-Wayas promised to closely work with other security agencies to rid the nation of criminals.
