Edde Iji Edde, a Professor of Theater and Communication Art University of Calabar has emerged the State Chairman of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP).
Prof. Edde, who is a former Commissioner in the State was the sole aspirant for the office of Chairman and was returned unopposed and elected according to the party constitution.
The election was conducted by The Chairman of the Congress Planning/ Screening/Primary Election of PRP in the State, Comrade Ayim Temple from Ebonyi State in the presence of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) held at Green valley Hotel Calabar.
Declaring Professor Edde the winner of the PRP Congress in the State, Ayim, said by the power conferred “on me by the National Working Committee of our party, Professor Edde is hereby returned elected”
Other members of the State Working Committee of the party who were also returned unopposed include the State Vice Chairman Abam Eteng Eta, State Secretary Okon Williams, Assistant Secretary James Elolo, State Treasurer Ndifon Ekuma, Financial Secretary, Michael Ekong, Auditor Under Uda, Organizing Secretary Johnson Inang, Assistant Organizing Secretary Emayin Edet, Women Leader ,Youth Leader Akpan Kingsley, Publicity Secretary Mens Ikpeme , Assistant Publicity Secretary Edem Emmanuel.
The 13 member State Working Committee were sworn in immediately after the Congress by Ayim Temple in the presence of INEC, saying “having gone through the screening exercise and affirmation of the State Working Committee, I found them worthy members of the Cross River State Working Committee”.
In his remarks, the State Chairman of PRP, Professor Edde, charged members of the State Working Committee to project the ideals of the party which is equal opportunity for all Nigerians.
He commended the efforts of the former Minister of Niger Delta for bringing PRP in the state just as he did in the APC which is the governing party in the state.
The former minister thanked delegates from the 18 Local Government Areas of Cross River State, stating that “when we saw the injustice elsewhere we decided to go to where everyone is accommodated”.
“You can see the Congress was very peaceful and everyone is satisfied”
