A member of the House of Representatives for Gwer East/Gwer West Federal Constituency Dr Asema Achado, has expressed deep concern over the attacks on the people of Mbakera-Sough Council Ward of Gwer East local Government Area by suspected Fulani militia.
The unprovoked assaults have led to significant loss of lives and properties, prompting urgent call for government intervention.
A statement by the Media Assistant to the House of Representatives member, Menda Manasseh, said Achado lamented the violation of the Benue State Anti Open Grazing law and the tragic impact these attacks have had on the various Benue communities.
According to the statement, the federal lawmaker emphasized that the government’s primary responsibility is to protect its citizens and maintain order.
The persistent attacks, the statement revealed, have caused immense suffering and hardship amongst the Benue people.
Achado appealed to the Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, to take decisive actions for enhanced security of the state by enforcing the Anti-open Grazing Prohibition Law, stressing that this law is crucial to curbing the violence and ensuring the safety of the state’s farmers.
While urging the peace-loving people of Mbakera-Sough Council Ward to remain resilient and law-abiding while awaiting a lasting resolution, Achado called for immediate state government action to deploy security forces to the area and halt the unprovoked attacks.
