The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine has been described as an invasion with the aim of annexing the country to Russia.
Speaking exclusively to NATIONAL ACCORD in Abuja on Thursday, the Consul’s Second Secretary, Bohadan Soltys, noted that the attack on Ukraine was unprovoked and unjustified.
According to Soltys, the ongoing war was just a grand plan by Russia to attack smaller nations in order to recreate the old Soviet Union with Russia as the head.
He wondered why Russian, a country with the largest land mass and a population of 140 million people would choose to embark on such expensive military campaigns to take over smaller countries including Ukraine instead of using its resources for the prosperity and well-being of her people.
Mr. Soltys, who reiterated Ukrainian resolve to remain an independent entity, hailed the efforts of the international community aimed at bringing the war to an end.
He however called for stiffer economic and political sanctions against Russia and the Oligarchs to fasten the end of the war.
While also acknowledging the efforts of humanitarian agencies, Mr. Soltys stated that there have been a number of casualties and good response from agencies but emphasized the need for further interventions if the war persists.
