Over 20 different security agencies and more than 1,000 personnel participated in a significant show of unity and commitment as they staged their maiden 10-kilometer route march in Plateau State on Saturday. The event aimed to bolster synergy and collaboration among the various security outfits.
During the march in Jos, Major General AE Abubakar, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division, Nigeria Army, and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN, highlighted the importance of physical and mental fitness for security personnel.
He stated, “We have over 20 different security agencies here and more than 1,000 security personnel formed up. The work that we do to make sure the citizens on the Plateau are safe is mentally demanding and physically challenging.
“That is why we must keep fit so that we are able to deliver on our constitutional mandate. The essence of this security work cannot be overemphasized.”
Major Gen. Abubakar commended the participants for their efforts, saying, “In the last 2 hours, you have worked 10 kilometers. You are lighter, you are faster, you are healthier. And indeed, going forward, you will be able to perform your roles optimally.”
“The command and vision philosophy of both the Chief of Defense Staff, the Chief of Army Staff, all the service chiefs, and the heads of the security agencies at the federal level rest on three basic fulcrums: jointness, synergy, and cooperation.
“We are here to show the people on the Plateau today that we are one, cooperating with each other to ensure that the Plateau is safe.”
He expressed gratitude to the heads of various security agencies for their support and reaffirmed the commitment to continue the exercise monthly, acknowledging its evident benefits.
