The Sultan of Sokoto and President General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar 111, has urged Muslim Ummah in the country to look out for the new moon of Zulki’ida 1442AH from tomorrow Thursday.
A statement signed on behalf of the Sultan of Sokoto by Prof Sambo Wali Junaidu Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council, admonished Muslims to report the sighting of the moon to their nearest district heads.
The statement read in part, “This is to inform the Muslim Ummah that, Thursday 10th of June, 2021 which is equivalent to 29th day of Shawwal 1442AH shall be the day to look for the new moon of Zulki’ida 1442AH”.
“Muslims are therefore requested to start looking for the new moon of Zulki’ida 1442AH on Thursday and report its sighting to the nearest district or village head for onward communication to His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar CFR, mni, the Sultan of Sokoto.
“May Allah (SWT) help us in the discharge of this religious duty, Amen”.
