Sen. Solomon Otegbola, the Asiwaju of Aworiland
By DAVID IORJA, Abuja –
President Bola Tinubu has expressed sorrow over the death of Sen. Solomon Otegbola, the Asiwaju of Aworiland.
In a condolence message to the Otegbola family and the people of Aworiland, the President described the late Senator as “a man of immense dignity, principle, and dedication to the service of his people and country.
“Sen. Otegbola was a devoted public servant, a respected legislator, and a patriarch whose influence spanned generations,” Tinubu said in a statement by Mr Bayo Onanuga, his spokesman.
He said Otegbola’s commitment to developing Aworiland and Nigeria remained deeply appreciated and widely acknowledged.
Reflecting on his connection to the family, Tinubu recalled his role as the Chairman at the wedding of Otegbola’s son, Wale, over two decades ago, a testament to the bond of friendship between both families.
“Nigeria has lost a patriot. The Awori nation has lost a guiding light. And I have lost a noble elder whose life embodied sacrifice, wisdom, and service,” the President said.
Tinubu extended his condolences to the Otegbola family, the Awori traditional institutions, and all those mourning his loss.
He prayed that the Almighty would grant Otegbola eternal rest and comfort his loved ones.
Otegbola, who died on Feb. 27 at 91, will be buried on April 24.
