Yet to be identified gunmen on Saturday reportedly invaded the Gudum Hausawa area, a suburb of Bauchi metropolis of Bauchi State killing two people in the process.
NATIONAL ACCORD gathered Sunday night that the attackers numbering more than ten invaded the community in a commando style, causing panic among residents who scampered for safety and at the end of the invasion, two people, a man and a young girl were found dead.
A resident of the community who spoke on the condition of anonymity said that the reason for the invasion is not yet known.
According to him, though there was a minor misunderstanding among some people recently, no one can say if the invasion is linked to the issue or not.
He therefore appealed to Governor Bala Mohammed, to as a matter of urgency make necessary security arrangements for the community because according to him, the area is becoming notorious for such attacks.
The Bauchi State Police Command confirmed receiving the information on the killings.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said that investigation has commenced to apprehend the killers as well as to get to the root cause of the murder.
The Police Commissioner, Lawan Jimeta, he stated, immediately drafted armed Police personnels to the area to maintain law and order as well as to curtail any reprisal attack.
Wakil however called on residents of the community to assist Police in its investigation by volunteering useful information that may lead to the arrest of the killers and get to the root cause of the attack.
He said that four people were arrested for obstruction when Police personnels drafted to the area were initially denied access by the people.
According to him, those arrested are Haruna Nbula (Ward Leader of Gudun Sayawa), Hassan Hilbash of Gudun Sayawa, Elicana Samaila of Gudun Sayawa) and Jonathan Ishaya of Rafin Lumba Village in Tafawa Balewa LGA of Bauchi State.
The Police Spokesman assured that as of the time of this report, normalcy has returned to the area as the Police personnel are keeping Vigilance are parading the area.
