Yoruba socio-cultural group, Coalition of Egbe Omo Yoruba has condemned the recent outburst credited to the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde over 2023 Presidency, who said Nigeria do not need a Yoruba Presidency.
This was made known in a statement by the group’s director of media and publicity, Chief Adeigba Gbenga in Ibadan on Wednesday.
The statement read.
“We wish to state that Nigeria must continue with the power rotation arrangement between the north and the south for the general interest of peace and unity of the country.
“As it is today, the Yorubas are from the south and are therefore emminently qualified and remain the best option for Nigeria presidency come 2023.
“We wish to state that Governor Makinde comments remain his personal opinion and not that of the yorubas as a geo-political zone, we express confidence that the situation in Nigeria will be turned around and transform if the Yorubas are given the opportunity come 2023.
“The Yoruba presidency as opposed to Gov. Makinde’s view will be in the spirit of equity, justice and fair play.
“We therefore wish to categorically on behalf of Coalition of Omo Yoruba call on all well meaning Yorubas to disregard the comnents from the Governor and unite towards achieving a Yoruba presidency that will transform the country”. Adeigba said
