After being kidnapped for some weeks, eight women and four infants from Bungudu Local Government area of Zamfara state have regained their freedom.
In an interview with newsmen at government house Gusau, the kidnapped victims said they sleep in open space and were given only soya beans cake as food.
Zamfara State Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle who received the eight women together with seven repentant bandits who surrendered two Ak47 rifles at government house Gusau said the success was achieved through the peace dialogue initiative of his administration.
According to him, the health status of the rescued women and their four infants will be examined at health facilities in Gusau, before reuniting them with their families.
Governor Bello Matawalle who reminded citizens of their responsibility in ensuring sustainable peace also cautioned Nigerians against making utterances that may cause breach of peace in the country and urged civilians to support security agencies with intelligence.
