Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum has approved the payment of N30,000 minimum wage for qualified primary school teachers in the state.
Governor Zulum gave the approval on Wednesday when he received the leaders of the organized labour, who were on a courtesy visit at Government House Maiduguri.
In his address, the Borno State Chairman of The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Mr. Yusuf inuwa stated that they were at the Government House to appreciate and thanked the Governor for paying 2020 leave grant.
He also noted that they came to inform the governor about the demands of the civil servants in the state which include the payment of minimum wage for qualified teachers, payment of promotional benefits and reverification of affected local government staff.

Responding, the Governor thanked the labour leaders for the visit and called for collaboration between the union and the state government.
The governor graciously approved the payment of minimum wage to 4491 qualified teachers in the state, with effect from August 1, 2022.
He however noted that the unqualified teachers will be retrained while assuring that no civil servant will be retrenched.
The governor also assured the labour union of the state government’s timely intervention to their other demands
