Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum was in Mobbar, Gunio and Magumeri LGCs headquarters on Sunday where he commissioned some completed ICT projects and inspected ongoing construction works as well unveiled the fifth newly constructed State Vocational Training Institute in Magumeri town of Magumeri LGC of the state
The governor was accompanied on the LGCs tour and inspection as well as commissioning of projects by the Minister of State for Water Resources and Sanitation, Alhaji Bello M. Goronyo, Borno State Head of Service , Barrister Fannami, Commissioners, and other government officials.
Zulum commissioned some completed projects and inspected ongoing ones in all the local government areas that he visited .
The projects include: digital literacy centers and teachers’ quarters, which are in line with the government’s agenda of human capital development according to him.
In Magumeri and Mobbar, the governor inspected the state’s large-scale Irrigation scheme which is aimed at ensuring large food production to serve as food security in the state.
He however commended the federal government for its support to the state .
In his remark, the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Alhaji Bello pledged that his ministry will intervene and also contribute it’s quota in the expansion and sustainability of the irrigation scheme.
Earlier in Magumeri, the governor commissioned the fifth Mega Vocational Training Institute in the state, noting that, his administration has also commissioned similar projects in Biu, Mafa, Maiduguri, and Shani LGCs if the state.
The governor also supervised the distribution of humanitarian assistance to vulnerable women in Magumeri town of Magumeri LGC.
In Mobbar, the governor inspected the ongoing construction of a Mega High Islamic school in Damasak town and expressed satisfaction with the speed and quality of the work.
The Executive Secretary of Borno State Information and Communications Development Agency, Engr Kabiru Mohammed Wanuri, said the digital literacy training centres are designed to train both males and females, including persons with special needs or disabilities in vocational training of different skills
Engr Dr. Ali Yaumi, the immediate past Local Government Chairman of Magumeri, hailed Governor Zulum for bringing such developmental projects to Magumeri communities while acknowledging that this is the first such facilities are provided in the area by the government.
