Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum ably represented by his deputy, Hon. Umar Kadafur alongside the Chairman, Borno State Amirul Hajj, Senator Kaka Lawan, have delivered their farewell messages to the first batch 410 Borno Pilgrims on board at the Maiduguri international Airport on Sunday night.
The governor advised them to be law abiding citizen and good ambassadors of the state as well prayed for their safe and successful pilgrimage and sacrifices (Eid-el-Kabir) at the Holy Land.
The first batch of Borno pilgrims for the 2024 Hajj departed Maiduguri International Airport on Sunday, May 27th, at 2:20 am. The first batch pilgrims that were airlifted to Mecca comprised of 234 males and 149 females.
The Chairman of the 2024 Borno Amirul Hajj Committee attributed the successes recorded so far in terms of the smooth and hitch free screening of the first batch of the intending Pilgrims to the tireless efforts of Governor Zulum in giving approvals to all matters relating to Hajj operations.
Borno State Pilgrims Welfare Board (BSPWB) officials also announced that the screening for the second batch will begin on Monday evening, by 6 pm at Air Kashim Ibrahim College of Education Hajj Center while urging them come along with their departure scheduled for Tuesday morning.
