Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, has vowed that his administration would entrench peace and resettle all Internally-Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the state.
Governor Mutfwang gave the assurance on Saturday in Miango, Bassa Local Government (LGA), at the official flag-off of the rebuilding of Rotsu Community, which was ravaged by persistent crises.
The governor, represented by his Special Adviser on Technical and Strategy, Mr Samari Modibo, said that his administration was working with the Federal Government to tackle security challenges.
He stated that his administration constituted a resettlement taskforce to ensure the safe return of IDPs to their ancestral homes.
Governor Mutfwang appreciated security agencies in the state for their efforts towards ensuring peace in the state.
He commended the Miango Youth Development Association for partnering with Jinkai Aid Initiative, a non-governmental organisation, to rebuild the Rotsu Community.
“We will study your model of using compressed earth bricks to see whether it can be replicated in other parts of the state.
“Our administration does not make noise, but I can assure you that we will support you in achieving this vision for the good of our people,” he said.
The paramount ruler of Irigwe, Rev. Ronku Aka, appreciated the youth for the initiative that would no doubt impact Irigwe land positively.
Aka prayed to God to bless the youth with more wisdom to continue to assist the Irigwe people.
The traditional ruler said that they were in dire need of enduring peace so that they could go to their farms and other places without fear of being attacked.
“I appeal to the governor and government to assist in the implementation of this noble initiative.
“The initiative would benefit not only Irigwe but Plateau in general, and I pray to God to restore permanent peace to the state and Nigeria,” he said.
Mr Alex Ladan, a former governorship aspirant in Plateau, urged the state government to construct roads to link Rotsu and other communities to curtail attacks. (NAN)
