The Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared its readiness to host the flag-off of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign on October 24, pledging to mobilise massive support for the President ahead of the general elections.
The party also expressed confidence that Kaduna State would deliver the two million votes reportedly promised by Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani to support Tinubu’s re-election bid.
The APC State Publicity Secretary, Mohammed Sani Haruna, disclosed this on Monday during a press briefing in Kaduna, where he said preparations were underway to receive the President, party leaders and supporters from across the country.
Haruna described Kaduna as a strategic venue for the campaign flag-off, citing its historical significance as the former capital of the Northern Region and its diverse ethnic and religious composition.
He said the choice of Kaduna demonstrated the importance attached to the North, adding that the state’s position and history made it a suitable location for the launch of the President’s re-election campaign.
The publicity secretary further called on northern Nigerians to support Tinubu’s re-election, citing the President’s past political alliances with northern presidential aspirants, including the late General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, former presidential candidate Nuhu Ribadu and former President Muhammadu Buhari.
He argued that Tinubu had demonstrated support for northern political aspirations at different times and urged the region to reciprocate ahead of the 2027 election.
“Going by the antecedents of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I am bold to say that it is we, the northerners, that owe President Bola Ahmed Tinubu our support,” Haruna said.
The planned flag-off, earlier announced by the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, is scheduled for October 24, following the campaign council’s inaugural meeting in Abuja on October
14.
Haruna reiterated that the Kaduna APC was prepared to host the event and demonstrate its organisational strength as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.
