2027: Obi, Kwankwaso receive thousands of APC, ADC defectors to NDC in Sokoto

The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, and his running mate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on Monday received thousands of defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC), the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and other political parties into the NDC during a town hall meeting in Sokoto State.

The event, tagged “Obi/Kwankwaso Talk Nigeria Town Hall Meeting,” attracted party supporters, community leaders and residents from across the state as the NDC intensified its campaign ahead of the 2027 general election.

Addressing the gathering, Kwankwaso assured both new and old members that the NDC would provide equal opportunities for every Nigerian, regardless of tribe, religion or social status.

Obi told the crowd that the NDC remains the only credible alternative for Nigerians seeking a government that works for everyone. He accused the ruling APC of failing to deliver good governance and improve the lives of citizens.

He said the NDC would focus on responsible leadership rather than making promises it could not fulfil.

Obi also pledged that an NDC government would tackle corruption and protect public resources, saying this would help reduce the burden of wasteful spending.

While promising a new direction for the country, he reiterated the party’s commitment to building a Nigeria where merit, fairness and equal opportunities would thrive.

> “The NDC Obi/Kwankwaso is the only team committed to changing the country for good. That is the team that is committee to the unity and ensure protection of Nigerians anywhere they are.

> “The rating of Nigeria today as the poverty capital of the whole world was created by the government. The NDC government if voted come 2027 will ensure that railway connects every state capital, generate additional 10,000 megawatts of electricity within the next 4 years and run a government that listen to the people. We will spend our holidays in Nigeria and not outside the country”.

Kwankwaso said the visit to Sokoto was not only for political engagement but also to sympathise with the people of Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states over the continued insecurity that has claimed many lives, injured several others and displaced many communities.

He urged Nigerians to support the NDC in the 2027 elections, arguing that the party offers a realistic path to improved security, economic growth and better governance.

According to him, Sokoto’s high poverty level is the result of years of poor leadership, adding that citizens have the power to change their future through the ballot.

The latest defections are expected to strengthen the NDC’s political structure in Sokoto and reinforce its campaign to expand support across the North-West ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
