Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde
The Vice-Presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Alhaji Lawal Daura, has declared that Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, is the most competent and credible candidate in the race for Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election.
Daura made the declaration on Sunday in Abuja while receiving leaders of the Northern Patriotic Front (NPF) at the APM Presidential Campaign Headquarters. The group presented an award to Makinde and formally endorsed his presidential ambition.
He said Makinde’s achievements as governor of Oyo State, his business experience, financial knowledge and commitment to transparency set him apart from other presidential hopefuls.
According to Daura, the Oyo governor has demonstrated stronger leadership, better performance and a clearer vision for Nigeria than other candidates seeking the nation’s highest office.
He urged Nigerians not to vote based on ethnicity or religion but to consider the competence, integrity and track record of those seeking public office.
Daura also promised that a Makinde-Daura administration would serve as a four-year inclusive transitional government aimed at uniting the country and rebuilding public confidence.
He said the proposed government would give priority to reviving the economy, improving education, strengthening security and carrying out political and institutional reforms.
Speaking earlier, President of the Northern Patriotic Front, Alhaji Ali Abacha, said the group decided to support Makinde because of what it described as his impressive performance and developmental record in Oyo State.
The endorsement comes as political parties and interest groups continue to intensify consultations and alliances ahead of the 2027 general election, with campaigns expected to gather more momentum in the coming weeks.
Nigeria’s next presidential election is scheduled to hold on January 16, 2027, with several political parties already positioning their candidates for what is expected to be a keenly contested race.
