Former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal
Former Sokoto State Governor and Senator representing Sokoto South, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has denied reports that he plans to leave the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
His Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Prince Daniel, dismissed the reports in a statement on Monday.
He said the rumours circulating on social media are false and should be ignored.
Daniel said Tambuwal’s friendship with politicians across party lines should not be mistaken for a plan to defect.
He quoted Tambuwal as saying, “For the avoidance of doubt, Senator Tambuwal has no plans to join the APC. Suggestions to the contrary are false, baseless and should be disregarded.”
He added that photographs and video clips being shared online do not prove any political realignment.
According to him, greeting or meeting members of another political party does not mean a politician is changing parties.
Daniel said Tambuwal remains fully committed to the ADC and is focused on strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He also said the former governor is more concerned about addressing Nigeria’s economic, security and governance challenges than responding to unfounded speculation.
He urged supporters to remain focused and not be distracted by false reports.
Daniel also advised media organisations and social media users to verify claims with the AWT Media Office before publishing them.
