The Nigeria Customs Service has decorated no fewer than 68 of its newly promoted Senior Officers of Bauchi Zonal office.

Speaking at the brief ceremony which took place at the Nigeria Customs Zonal Office in Bauchi, on Tuesday, the Comptroller Administration, Boyilia Binga, said the promoted Officers consist of 1 Comptroller (CC), 3 Deputy Comptrollers (DC), 2 Chief superintendents of Customs (CSC), 32 Deputy Superintendents of Customs (DSP), 14 Assistant Superintendents of Customs (ASC 1) and 14 Assistant Superintendents of Customs (ASC 2).

He charged the decorated officers to put in their best into the system by working harder to justify their promotions.

Binga urged the officers to stand their grounds to suppress smuggling and not to disappoint themselves and the customs service management.

The Comptroller, Federal Operations Unit, Zone ‘D’ Bauchi, Adesanmi Omiye, in a speech, charged the newly promoted officers to discharge their duties diligently.

He urged them not to see their promotions as an opportunity for them to relax and misbehave charging them to work hard in discharging their duties.

“We are congratulating you today, I pray that you will not give us the opportunity to chastise you tomorrow because promotion demands more responsibility from you.

“Your actions now are expected to be more proactive. Simple mistakes will not be tolerated. Some of you have entered the management level, so there are certain things that you have to do away with since you have this promotion.

“There are certain things that you are not expected to be seen doing, so in office and out of office has changed from now, for good. A lot will be demanded from you now, don’t be carried away with the euphoria of the promotion, a lot will be expected of you now because of the task ahead of you. Don’t relax on your oars,” he stated.

Comptroller Joshua Ogini, who spoke on behalf of those decorated, expressed appreciation to the Controller General, Hamid Ali, and superior officers for giving them the privileges and opportunity to secure promotion in the service.

He pledged that the promoted officers would not relent in their efforts to serve the customs service diligently and passionately.
