The Transparency Nigeria Group (TNG) has called on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to immediately dismiss Mr Ademola Ademise, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Wema Bank PLC, a tier-3 lender quoted on the NGX.
A statement issued on Tuesday by TNG Communications Director, Dahiru Mohammed, said the group believd that Mr Ademise has grossly abused his office as the CEO of Wema Bank PLC and contravened several extant regulations of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Mr Mohammed noted that under Mr Adebise’s watch, Wema Bank covered up a massive fraudulent scheme perpetrated by companies and proxies of the All Progressives’ Congress presidential candidate Ahmed Bola Tinubu.
In doing this, Mr Adebise failed in his fiduciary duties and allowed a powerful politician to use Wema Bank as a clearing house for laundered funds.
Further bank documents which exposed how Tinubu-linked shell company moved N16.4bn after alpha beta scandal are provided in a report by People’s Gazette newspaper.
