The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos, has said Governor Uba Sani’s administration is fulfilling its promises to the people of Kaduna State through the execution of people-oriented projects across the state.
Mamman Lagos stated this while speaking during the completion and commissioning of an asphalt road linking communities within Kaduna North Local Government Area of the state.
According to him, the road was one of the promises made to residents during the 2023 electioneering campaign when he and Governor Uba Sani visited the area to solicit votes.
He said the area was one of the wards in Kaduna North that gave the highest votes to the governor during the election, adding that residents had identified the poor condition of the road as one of their major challenges.
“Today, we are coming back to keep the promise we made to them. This is democracy. We came back here to do this road because these people have been suffering from dust and other difficulties,” he said.
The commissioner explained that good road infrastructure would not only ease movement but also increase the value of properties, improve rental opportunities and provide better access to schools and other essential services.
He added that improved road networks would also help reduce accidents and enhance economic activities within communities, stressing that the benefits of the project would extend beyond the immediate residents.
Mamman Lagos said the road was only one of several infrastructure projects being executed by the Uba Sani administration, noting that the government had also embarked on road construction and rehabilitation projects across rural communities in the state.
He said the administration had constructed roads linking communities and local government areas, adding that more projects were in the pipeline.
The commissioner further announced that the state government would commence the installation of 100 solar-powered streetlights along the area from Monday, describing the initiative as another effort to improve security and the quality of life of residents.
Mamman Lagos appealed to residents to be patient with the government and give the administration the benefit of the doubt, saying some people initially criticised the road project when construction commenced.
He recalled that some critics had described the project as a waste of resources and alleged that the government would only grade the road and abandon it, but said the completed asphalt road had now proved such criticisms wrong.
Also speaking, the APC candidate for Kaduna North Federal Constituency, Hon. Suleiman Samaila, commended Governor Uba Sani and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for fulfilling their promises to the people.
Samaila, who noted that Mamman Lagos was a former chairman of Kaduna North Local Government, said the completed road linked Angwan Yero to Kwaru and connected Kwaru to the end of Shagari Road, describing it as a significant dividend of democracy for the people.
He said the people of Kaduna State had witnessed the commitment of the present administration to fulfilling its promises, claiming that between 80 and 85 per cent of the promises made in 2023 had so far been fulfilled.
Samaila urged residents of Kaduna North to continue supporting the APC at all levels, from the Presidency to the State Government, National Assembly and State House of Assembly, assuring that the administration would continue to deliver on its commitments.
Residents of the affected communities expressed appreciation to Governor Uba Sani for completing the road, saying the project had brought renewed hope and excitement to the area.
They said the community had endured poor road conditions for about 40 years, with residents facing difficulties caused by dust, potholes and poor accessibility.
The residents described the completion of the road as a major dividend of democracy, saying the project had significantly improved the appearance of the community and would make transportation and movement easier for residents.
They commended the governor for keeping his promise and called for the continued execution of projects that would directly improve the living conditions of residents across Kaduna.
