IGP Disu during his assessment visit
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has conducted a comprehensive inspection of 23 Police barracks to assess the living conditions of personnel and their families and identify priority areas requiring intervention.
The exercise according to a statement by the Force spokesman, CSP Anietie Iniedu, covered residential quarters and other welfare infrastructure, with the IGP engaging personnel and residents and assessing the condition of facilities.
CSP Iniedu said the inspection provided a broad assessment of existing welfare challenges and highlighted areas requiring urgent attention, rehabilitation and sustained investment.
He added that the exercise underscored the IGP’s commitment to personnel welfare as a key component of ongoing Police reform. Recognising that decent accommodation and functional welfare infrastructure contribute significantly to personnel morale, wellbeing and effective service delivery, the IGP assured personnel that identified welfare needs would receive appropriate attention.
According to him, the inspection further reflects the Force leadership’s emphasis on evidence-based assessment and practical interventions in addressing the welfare needs of Police personnel. It is also aimed at strengthening administrative responsiveness to infrastructure gaps across Police barracks and improving the living environment of officers and their families.
“The IGP reiterated that personnel who dedicate themselves to the protection of lives and property deserve decent and conducive living conditions, noting that improved welfare remains integral to building a motivated, professional and effective Police Force.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to improving the welfare, living conditions and wellbeing of its personnel and their families through sustained investment in accommodation, welfare infrastructure and other support systems, while strengthening the capacity of officers to effectively discharge their constitutional responsibilities.
