New Emir of Zurmi, Aminu Atiku
Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has approved the appointment of Aminu Atiku as the new Emir and Sarkin Zamfaran Zurmi.
Governor Lawal’s approval is contained in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada.
The statement said the appointment followed consultations and the recommendation of the Zurmi Emirate Kingmakers.
Aminu Atiku, who until his appointment was the Dangaladiman Zurmi, becomes the 21st Sarkin Zamfaran Zurmi, succeeding the late Alhaji Bello Suleiman, who died on August 31, 2026.
He is the eldest son of the 19th Emir, the late Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and a former Sole Administrator of Zurmi Local Government Council.
Governor Lawal while congratulating the new Emir urged him to promote peace, justice, unity and the welfare of his people.
He also called on him to work with the government and security agencies to strengthen peace and security in the emirate.
The governor assured the new monarch of the state government’s support towards the development of Zurmi Emirate and Zamfara State as a whole.
