Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike has met with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara in Port Harcourt, in a move seen as another step towards strengthening political understanding among key leaders in the state.
Wike, alongside some leaders of the Rainbow Coalition, visited Fubara at his private residence in Port Harcourt on Wednesday. The meeting also had in attendance the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Rivers State, Kingsley Chinda, and Senator Magnus Abe.

The meeting was disclosed by Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, who shared details of the gathering on Wednesday.
Although the outcome of the discussions was not made public, the meeting highlights ongoing efforts by Rivers political actors to promote peace, cooperation and unity after months of political tension in the state.

Wike, a former governor of Rivers State, and Fubara had been at the centre of a political dispute that attracted national attention. However, recent engagements between leaders from different sides have focused on reconciliation and finding common ground.
The visit also brought together supporters of Governor Fubara and members of the Rainbow Coalition, showing a willingness among major political stakeholders to rebuild relationships and work together.
Political observers say such engagements could shape the direction of Rivers politics as the country moves closer to the 2027 general elections.

Beyond political calculations, the meeting reflects the importance of dialogue, respect and cooperation among leaders in resolving differences and promoting stability.
Rivers State remains one of Nigeria’s most politically influential states, with its decisions often attracting national interest because of its economic and strategic importance.
The latest meeting is expected to generate further discussions on the future relationship among the state’s major political figures.
