Former Manchester United goalkeeper André Onana has escaped injury after a car crash in Turkey, hours after keeping a clean sheet in Trabzonspor’s 2-0 victory over Hearts in the UEFA Conference League on Thursday night.
Onana was reportedly driving home with his family through the Yomra district of Trabzon when a vehicle hit his silver SUV from behind at high speed, pushing it into another car and triggering a pile-up.
Images from the scene showed damage to the front of his vehicle, with debris scattered across the road.
The Cameroonian was taken to hospital for precautionary checks but was later discharged. His family also escaped unharmed.
Trabzonspor president Ertuğrul Doğan confirmed the incident, saying: “André Onana was involved in a road traffic accident earlier this evening. There are no problems with him, and we wish him a speedy recovery.”
Club officials visited the scene following the crash.
Onana is expected to be available for Trabzonspor’s league clash with Rizespor on Monday, subject to the club’s assessment.
