The Kano State Government has burnt over 400 tonnes of adulterated food, drinks and fake drugs seized by the State Consumer Protection Council.
Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, representative of The Director General of NAFDAC and other stakeholders, witnessed the destruction of the items at the Kano Office of the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
The Governor said selling these product, “at a time when people are battling with major health challenges was unacceptable”.
He commended NAFDAC, KARORATA, CPC and security agencies for tracking the distributors.
Representative of DG NAFDAC, said adulterated food drinks like the expired juice currently in circulationn, has inflicted considerable damage on the health of many, saying the agency would continue to checkmate sellers of these “unwholesome product”.
