Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi has continued his engagement with international stakeholders after meeting with a United Nations delegation in Abuja.
The meeting, which followed his earlier discussion with the European Union Commission, focused on Nigeria’s democracy, economic challenges and preparations for future elections.
Obi, who hosted the UN team at the Obidient House, called on the international community to support democratic processes that allow Nigerians to freely determine their leaders.
He said credible elections remain essential for strengthening public confidence and ensuring political stability.
The delegation was led by Leonardo Santos Simão, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for West Africa.
Obi also highlighted the impact of the cost-of-living crisis on Nigerians and stressed the importance of improving citizens’ welfare.
The former governor described the engagement as productive and thanked the UN representatives for their visit.
