The Tricycles Riders Association, Bakin-Ruwa, Rigasa in Kaduna state, on Friday, admonished riders to adhere strictly to the COVID-19 protocols while conducting their business.
Chairman of the association, Comrade Mahdi Lawal, gave the warning in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna.
Lawal said that it was very important to use face mask, hand sanitisers and maintain physical distance in order to control the spread of the disease.
“As a union, we make sure our members use facemask and pick only passengers with a mask.
“They also have hand sanitisers for passengers to use.
“As we all know, COVID-19 is still much around and we are experiencing the second wave.
“Therefore, we must take all necessary precautions to stay safe,’’ he said.
Lawal said that the association would ensure that its members abide by traffic rules such as having a licence and being in the right state of mind before riding on the road.
He noted that the association had a task force that supervise new riders and make sure that they abide by the rules.
New riders, he said, must provide an address and a guarantor for security purpose.
Lawal urged individuals or groups who are into transportation business to partner with transport unions toward ensuring that only mentally stable adults were given vehicle to use. (NAN)
