Borno Football chair donates to Maiduguri Custodial Centre

Chairman of the Borno State Football Association and Member, Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF), Alhaji Babagana Kalli, has donated items worth thousands of Naira to the Maiduguri Maximum Security Custodial Centre.

The items, which include footballs, Jerseys, drugs, food items and toiletries, were presented to the inmates at the end of a friendly football match played on Wednesday on the football pitch of the Correctional center.  

The Borno FA boss led a delegation of the Association’s members, club owners, coaches and officials of Borno state Football club owners Association who played a friendly football match with the inmates of the correctional center.


The items were at the end of the match presented to the captain of the inmates by Chairman House Committee on sports Borno State House of Assembly, Hon. Ibrahim Babale who played full time of the friendly match.

Earlier receiving the delegation of Borno F.A Chairman and his team in his office, the Deputy Comptroller Correctional Service Maximum Security Center Maiduguri, Nuhu Hussaini on behalf of his comptroller, the inmates and the entire staff of the center welcomed the delegation who came in for this philanthropic gesture.

In his introductory remarks the the FA Boss Babagana Kalli introduced his team pointing out that they were at the center to show the inmates that they are not rejected and as inmates they are loved .

Because when they complete their terms they will join the larger society as reformed individuals.According to Babagana Kalli this gesture is part of Nigeria’s diamond Jubilee celebrations which could not hold on 1st October as scheduled. 

The visitors and the inmates trade tackled in a friendly football match that was dominated by the inmates in the early minutes of the game that saw the host scoring a beautiful goal in the first half amidst cheers from the inmates. 

The visitors tried severally to equalize but the inmates were fitter in terms of stamina. Having conceeded the only goal of the match, the FA delegation team defended well to end the match 1-0 in favor of the host.

In his parting speech to the inmates, Babagana told the inmates that their visit is a friendly one since they are part of us. He said the visit is aimed at showing love and care to them as inmates and brothers who found themselves in the center because of one mistake or the other.

 He assured them of similar visits in the near future. On a final note the Chairman pledged to send in a complete set of beefs for the trainings of the inmates.
