The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has congratulated the newly commissioned officers of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), warmly welcoming the 351 Air Force officers into the Nigerian Air Force family and urging them to embrace the profession with courage, discipline, professionalism and selfless service.
The officers formed part of the 965 cadets who passed out at the Combined Passing Out Parade, comprising 440 cadets of the 73 Regular Course — 189 Army, 116 Air Force and 135 Navy; 290 cadets of Short Service Course 49 (Army); 148 cadets of Direct Short Service Course 34 (Air Force); and 87 cadets of Branch Commission Course 3 (Air Force).
As they crossed the threshold from cadetship into commissioned service, the CAS reminded the new Air Force officers that their commissioning marks not merely the beginning of a career, but the assumption of a solemn responsibility to Nigeria and the Nigerian Air Force.
He urged them to uphold the values imbibed at the Academy, continually develop their professional competence and serve with integrity, loyalty and distinction, while assuring them of a warm welcome into the Nigerian Air Force family and reminding them that they are now part of a proud tradition of service dedicated to defending the nation and delivering decisive airpower effects in synergy with other Services.
